Qudsi Osmanov Became Deputy Ambassador to Russia
By the order of the President of Azerbaijan, Qudsi Osmanov was withdrawn from the post of Consul General in St. Petersburg. It was not reported, whether Osmanov will remain in the diplomatic service.
However, sources in Moscow told Turan that Osmanov was appointed the Deputy Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry does not comment on this post.
It is noteworthy that in the beginning of February, the chairman of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress Mamed Aliyev nominated Osmanov for executive director of this entity. However, Osmanov refused, saying diplomacy.
Osmanov is not a career diplomat. He started out as an entrepreneur, who then got in touch with the authorities in Baku. Some time ago, his name was mentioned in a scandal, when a young woman accused him of harassment.
The expediency of such an appointment raises a number of serious issues and is difficult to explain in view of the role and place of Russia in the foreign policy of Azerbaijan. However, it is understandable against the background of the creation of the "union of billionaires" and speculation about the preparation of a “color revolution” in Azerbaijan. In such a situation, the Azerbaijani authorities need not a skillful diplomat, but a loyal man. -03B06-
