Rally in support of Jamil Gasanli in Sabirabad (UPDATED)

The presidential candidate of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) Jamil Gasanli spoke at a campaign rally in front of the voters in Sabirabad .

He focused attention on the problems of corruption and particularly touched on the appropriation of public funds allocated for flood relief in 2010, by which the Sabirabad people were most affected .

According to Gasanli , this flood was not a natural disaster, but it was provoked by bureaucratic and oligarchic groups against the survival of the local people and for the seizure of fertile land on the banks of the Kura River.

Next Gasanli reported on the profound crisis of all aspects of life because of the antinational policies of the authorities. Particularly, he highlighted the plight of the peasants because of the deep decline of agriculture .

The leader of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli also reported the corruption of power and its fear of fair elections, as it does not enjoy popular support. This, he explained provocation arranged in front of the opposition meeting in Sabirabad .

Former MP Panah Huseyn said in his turn the provocateurs not related to Sabirabad were brought from other places.

According to Huseyn, the residents of Sabirabad suffering from arbitrariness and lawlessness are in favor of a change in the country and support Jamil Gasanli .

Participants of the rally, about five hundred people, enthusiastically and gleefully saw Gasanli off. -01C-

A group of police provocateurs tried to disrupt the meeting of the opposition candidate Jamil Gasanli with voters, which started in Sabirabad at the local stadium on Friday noon.

As the correspondent of Turan reported, 100-150 people tried to block the entrance and shouted slogans in support of President Ilham Aliyev.

"We will not allow those here who oppose our president. Go back!" they cried, trying to provoke a fight.

However, the provocateurs were driven by the opposition and the meeting began.

As the leader of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli and Jamil Gasanli spoke, the provocateurs tried to disrupt their performances, but they did not succeed.

As in other cities, the police blocked the entrances to the venue and did not let citizens who wanted to talk to the opposition candidate.

Apparently, the authorities are seriously concerned about the popularity of Gasanli in the regions. -01B-
