Ramiz Mehdiyev's Supporters Demand to Punish Vice-Speaker of Parliament
Baku / 23.09.20 / Turan: Supporters of the President of the National Academy of Sciences Ramiz Mehdiyev complained to parliament members about Vice-Speaker Adil Aliyev.
The scandal was caused by an interview with the Vice-Speaker, in which he sharply criticized Mehdiyev.
“If Mehdiyev had at least a gram of state thinking, he would tolerate criticism and admit his mistakes and he would have resigned from the post of President of the Academy of Sciences. Instead, he received fair criticism with hostility,” said the Vice-Speaker.
The interview also says that the former head of the presidential administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, having lost this post, is trying to maintain his influence. Sitting in the Academy, he still receives those whom he previously appointed to positions and holds meetings with them.
“This person did not understand the messages addressed to him. A number of administrative measures were related precisely to his persistence,” Aliyev said.
Further, the Vice-Speaker recalled the loud scandal with the deputy Gular Ahmedova in 2012-2013, who, on behalf of Mehdiyev, collected money from candidates for deputy.
Another person involved in the scandal, Sevinj Babayeva, then fled to Turkey and died there under strange circumstances.
“At that time, Mehdiyev, who taught others about morality, put these two women in jeopardy,” said the Vice-Speaker.
He also criticized the inefficiency of the Academy of Sciences, on the maintenance of which tens of millions of manats are spent annually, but there is no serious research there.
In response to these accusations, the primary organization of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, in a collective appeal to parliament, called on the MPs to express their attitude to the "irresponsible and populist speeches of the Vice-Speaker." —06D-
