Repeat Elections Appointed in 90th Agdash Constituency
President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on appointment of new elections to the Milli Majlis in the 90th Agdash District. The vote is scheduled for June 18.
The seat at the specified constituency became vacant after the CEC canceled the results of the parliamentary elections on November 1, 2015 in connection with the identified "serious violations". Thus, according to the preliminary results of the voting, the deputy of the previous convocation of the parliament, the head of AG Bank, nonpartisan Chinghiz Asadullayev was in the lead, but he did not enter the Milli Majlis.
Observers explained the reason for the cancellation of the election results with Asadullayev's proximity to the disgraced head of MNS Eldar Mahmudov.
Asadullayev himself has denied the presence of any kinship or friendly relations with the former head of the National Security Ministry.
It is interesting that in dozens of other districts where the opposition and independent candidates presented a lot of evidence of violations during the elections, the voting results were never canceled. -06D--
