Representative of Department of State Held Meeting with Civil Society Platform
The US Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Bridget Brink on the evening of November 22 met members of the Civil Society Platform (CSP) Mehriban Rahimli and Akif Gurbanov.
As stated in the press release of CSP, the meeting discussed the sociopolitical situation in Azerbaijan, the results of the constitutional referendum on September 26 and its expected consequences.
In addition, questions were raised on the state of civil society, the decision of the board of the international organization Extracting Industry Transparency Initiative to give the government another 4 months for measures to comply with the standards of this organization and the elimination of obstacles to the activities of NGOs, the situation with political freedoms, the issue of political prisoners, and Azerbaijan's relations with international organizations. -06D--
