Rogozin became co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission with Azerbaijan
Baku/11.04.14/Turan : Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree appointing Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, chairman of the Russian part of the intergovernmental commission with Azerbaijan , ITAR-TASS reported .
Rogozin , who oversees military-industrial complex will replace presidential envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin .
This permutation can mean a change in priority of regional relations in the military trade aspect of cooperation, Turan believes. This version is the fact that the Azerbaijani part of the commission in charge of defense contracts is headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Eyyubov .
Military-technical cooperation was discussed also during the visit to Baku of the Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov on April 7-8 .
Azerbaijan is a traditional buyer of Russian arms. Over the past 4 years Baku imported arms for 3.35 billion dollars, of which 80% was purchased from Russia .
True in the last year there was some bias in favor of Israeli and Turkish supplies that certainly bothered Moscow.
Dmitry Rogozin's appointment will be to restore the balance of interests that is important in terms of Russia's economic crisis affecting also the MIC.
We should also add that Rogozin in his new position will be able to rely on stable relations with President Ilham Aliyev that were installed when they both headed their countries' delegations to PACE . -0 -
