“Rossotrudnichestvo” threatens Baku.tv with a lawsuit
The head of “Rossotrudnichestvo” (the Russian Federation's state agency for humanitarian relations) Evgeny Primakov has threatened to file a lawsuit against the Azerbaijani internet TV channel Baku.tv. "I have reviewed the disgusting report - a standup by some girl with the Baku.tv label, filmed right at the entrance to our cultural center in Azerbaijan, in Baku, in front of the “Russian House” sign. In the report, the girl shamelessly lies, claiming that this is a nest of spies and a lair of separatists.
As far as I know, Baku.tv is funded by the Azerbaijani government. On Monday, we are preparing a lawsuit to protect our business reputation. I want to hear undeniable evidence of this slander and falsehood from the Azerbaijani government-funded media. Or a retraction and an apology," wrote Primakov on his Telegram channel.
He reminded that the Russian Cultural Center in Azerbaijan operates under an intergovernmental agreement between the two countries and is focused solely on education, culture, and science. "Now let Baku.tv prove that this activity is espionage or in any way illegal," noted Primakov.
“Rossotrudnichestvo” is the leading Russian agency, with its main mission being to strengthen Russia’s humanitarian influence worldwide. The organization is represented in 71 countries with 87 foreign offices. Since 2021, these offices have been informally called "Russian House."
