Russian Foreign Ministry on the 25th anniversary of the ceasefire agreement in Karabakh
Moscow / 10.05.19 / Turan: May 12, 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the entry into force of the cease-fire agreement signed by representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. The agreement was reached with the direct mediation of the Russian Federation. It allowed stopping the mass bloodshed and launching the process of the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement by political and diplomatic means, noted in the comments of the Russian Foreign Ministry, published on May 10.
"The agreement of May 12 still remains the basis for preserving the cease-fire regime. The settlement process is complicated, and leaves difficulties. It takes time and the political will of its participants to reach agreement on key aspects of the settlement. We see the readiness of the parties to continue joint work aimed at achieving sustainable peace. The results of the recent meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Vienna and their talks in Moscow testify to this, in particular.
For our part, we will actively assist Baku and Yerevan in the search for compromise solutions. As before, we will continue consistent mediation efforts in the framework of the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group together with the United States and France," the commentary said. -02D-
