'Russian House' accusations of espionage are not serious – Zakharova
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has called the accusations against the Russian House in Baku ‘absurd’.
During a briefing on 6 February, she said Moscow expects refutation of the ‘fakes’ by the media outlets that published them.
‘As soon as talks and some ‘spymania’ start, we should ask everyone the same question: do you want to talk seriously about the activities of special services? Or do you want to use this topic for cheap ‘fakes’?
In all seriousness, those who start this topic can talk about where and how their intelligence services operate.
We understand that this topic has been ‘thrown in’ and promoted here. All this does not correspond to the level of our relations and the potential we always talk about,’ Zakharova said.
She added that the Russian side is ready to perform necessary actions to finalise the registration of the Russian House.
‘We have repeatedly proposed to discuss this issue through diplomatic channels and these proposals were sent in writing to the Azerbaijani side. We expect that this issue will be resolved in a positive way,’ Zakharova said.
