Russian Minister of Economy Arrested
On the night of November 15, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia announced the arrest of Alexei Ulyukayev on suspicion of corruption. The minister is suspected of receiving a bribe of two million dollars.
According to the IC, for the money Ulyukayev has issued a positive opinion, which allowed Rosneft to buy state-owned shares of Bashneft.
According to the official representative of the investigation, Ulyukayev "was caught red-handed while taking a bribe." The Interfax source said the bribe was passed to the minister under the control of the security forces.
A spokesman for the Russian President Peskov confirmed that Putin was informed about this operation. He also said Ulyukaev had been followed for more than a year and his talks and e-mail had been under the control of the Federal Security Service. -02D-
