Russian University will hold a seminar for Azerbaijani journalists
Baku / 17.09.18 / Turan: Peoples' Friendship University of Russia with the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo representation in Baku will hold methodological events for journalists of Russian-language media and students of journalism faculties on September 19-21. The subjects of the events include discussion with participants of modern trends in the development of journalism, the influence of the information environment on journalism, questions of style and literary editing of texts in Russian, issues of interaction between Russian and foreign media on technology issues. Among the speakers of methodical events are: media representatives, teachers of the Department of Mass Communications of the Russian University of Friendship of Peoples.
Journalists (reporters, editors) of Russian-language news agencies and other media outlets in the Republic of Azerbaijan, Russian media covering the events in the country, students receiving journalism education in educational institutions of higher education in the Republic of Azerbaijan, journalists and students of the faculties of journalism of other countries are invited to participate. The declared number of participants in methodical activities: 100 people. The event will be held at the Russian Information and Cultural Center, at Baku, Khojaly Ave., house 20.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
