Rza Zarrab: Erdogan helped Iran bypass Western sanctions
Baku / 04.12.18 / Turan: Turkish authorities consider wrong the verdict against the deputy director general of Turkish Halkbank Mehmet Hakan Attila in the case of violation of sanctions against Iran, reads the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, published on Thursday, January 4. On January 3, a jury in New York recognized Mehmet Hakan Attila as guilty of trying to help Iran circumvent US sanctions. He is accused of having conspired with the Turkish-Iranian businessman Rza Zarrab to this end. During the investigation, Zarrab said that he bribed representatives of the Turkish authorities, and that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan approved the collusion.
Earlier, an Iranian of the Azerbaijani origin, Rza Zarrab, was arrested and extradited to the United States after allegations of money laundering, bribery, illegal gold trading, trade with Iran, contrary to Western sanctions. -02D-
