Saakashvili Promises Free Internet
On October 1 parliamentary elections will be held in Georgia. 70,000 supporters of the ruling party United National Movement gathered yesterday night at the last pre-election rally in the central Tbilisi stadium Dynamo Arena.
To the delegates assembled from all over Georgia the party's chairman, President Mikheil Saakashvili addressed. He began his speech with advising all "thieves in law", which already have tickets to Georgia, to return them, since his party would win the election, reports special correspondent of Turan from the Georgian capital.
Referring to social programs, he promised free health care to every family, jobs, insurance, agriculture, a voucher for every citizen at 1,000 lari (about $ 600) and free Internet.
"I need your help," the President said, referring to the voters.
Speaking about the scandal of violence in prisons, the president said that it was "scary video that rocked the whole community." "But we are not afraid, we have removed two ministers, arrested the rapists, changed the entire system, appointed a human rights advocate the Minister of Prisons and reaffirmed that we are ready to deal with the problems and correct the errors," Saakashvili said.
The President of Georgia said that October 1 is the day of victory of the United National Movement and the people would vote for the further development and progress. "We will never go back, we should only go forward. I am confident that our people want this," he stressed.
Today, the center of Tbilisi will host a meeting of the opposition party Georgian Dream, which is headed by Bidzina Ivanishvili. -16B-
