The EU wants to intensify aviation talks with Azerbaijan

 

The European Commission has just adopted a Communication on the "European Union's External Aviation Policy". The Communication is an ambitious package of proposals, notably to open negotiations with key partners to access new business opportunities in the fast growing markets, developing new tools to fight unfair competition and creating the right regulatory conditions to stimulate investment, reads a press-release of the EU Baku office.
 
One of the key elements of the proposal includes completing by 2015 signing of the EU-level aviation agreements with neighbouring countries such as Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Turkey, Tunisia and Egypt. To make the process efficient and to move it quickly, the Commission requested the Member States to grant it a general negotiating mandate for the neighbourhood countries.
 
"The EU proposes to constitute a Common Aviation Area, which aims at opening up and integrating the aviation markets, at allowing new opportunities for consumers and operators, and most importantly at leading to high standards in terms of air safety and security as well as air traffic management. I hope Azerbaijan will be ready soon to start the real negotiations as some other partners have already done", said EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia. -02D-
