Baku/05.10.23Turan: On 4 October, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz engaged in a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as disclosed by the Azerbaijani President's press service.
During the telephonic exchange, both leaders deliberated on pertinent regional matters. Chancellor Scholz extended Germany's unwavering support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of nations within the region. He underscored his country's endorsement of the Brussels process, led by President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel. The German Chancellor commended the recent visit of the UN Resident Coordinator Mission to the city of Khankendi in Azerbaijan, characterizing it as a positive development.
Notably, President Aliyev emphasized Azerbaijan's steadfast commitment to the cause of regional peace and its active participation in the Brussels process, spearheaded by President Charles Michel.
In a reciprocal gesture, President Aliyev highlighted the humanitarian assistance furnished by Azerbaijan's central government to the Armenian residents of Karabakh. He emphasized the provision of various services related to migration, social protection, and the initiation of relevant registration procedures. To enhance transparency in this regard, Azerbaijan established a dedicated portal for these processes. Furthermore, a team comprising representatives from the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan and UN specialized institutions visited the territory to affirm that no harm had befallen the civilian populace or civil and public infrastructure, as concluded in the press release.--0-
