Senators Durbin and Duckworth Congratulate US Azerbaijanis
Baku / 10/17/18 / Turan: Senators Tammy Duckworth and Richard Durbin of Illinois sent congratulatory letters to members of the Azerbaijani community of Illinois on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the restoration of independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The letters addressed to the Azerbaijani center across the states of the Midwest USA say that "the organization"s activities enrich Chicago"s public life with its educational and charitable events, and its members acquaint American youth with the values and history of the Azerbaijani people."
The appeal also indicates that over 50 million Azerbaijanis throughout the world, including the 400,000 people of the Azerbaijani community in the United States, remember the contribution of the founders of the independence of Azerbaijan. -06D-

Journalist Nargiz Abaslamova, held in Baku's Detention Center No. 1, was subjected to violence by a guard. While passing by the cell of her colleague Sevinj Vagifgizi, Abaslamova tried to greet her, reported on Abzas Media's Facebook page. However, guard Aygul Babaeva forcibly dragged Abaslamova away and deeply scratched the journalist's arm. Abaslamova stated that this is not the first time the mentioned guard has used force and been rude to journalists. A few days ago, Babaeva also used force against Sevinj Vagifgizi.
