Separatist leader announces new war?
Baku / 16.12.20 / Turan: Today the leader of the Karabakh separatists Arayik Harutyunyan made loud and provocative statements, threatening to violate the trilateral statement of November 10 and the resumption of the military conflict in Karabakh.
In his address on Wednesday afternoon, he again raised the issue of the need to recognize the independence of Karabakh.
“It is necessary to clarify issues related to the international status of Artsakh, which presupposes the recognition of independence based on the unquestioning recognition of the people's right to self-determination,” he said.
According to him, the recognition of this right will give an opportunity to think about the settlement of the conflict. Harutyunyan also stated about "the need to restore the territorial integrity of Karabakh."
He further stated that Karabakh, Armenia and Russia should "jointly suppress Azerbaijani provocations", referring to the recent events in the Hadrut region and a number of villages in the Shusha region, where the Azerbaijani armed forces took control of a number of settlements and Armenian positions.
It follows from Harutyunyan's statements that the separatist leaders refuse to recognize the results of the hostilities and do not agree with the return of Karabakh to Azerbaijan and hope that Russia will support their efforts in this direction. -02D-
