Serzh Sargsyan Resigns as Chairman of Armenia�s Ruling Party
Yerevan / 26.04.18 / Turan: Serzh Sargsyan decided to leave the post of chairman of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia. This decision was made during the April 25 meeting of members of the parliamentary faction of the party.
The Republican Party reported that "it was decided to start discussions on the replacement of the Republican Party's chairman.
Ex-President and former head of the government Serzh Sargsyan explained to the people present the reason for his resignation on April 23 and presented various scenarios of the possible work of the party"s parliamentary faction in order to preserve inner peace and stability in the country," the message says.
Meanwhile, the question of the new Prime Minister of Armenia is going to be decided on May 1. The leader of the protests, Nikol Pashinyan, has announced his desire to lead the new government. He also announced that he would not allow the new Prime Minister to be a member of the Republican Party. -02D-
