Shamshad Aga Arrested for Two Months in the Meydan TV Case

Shamshad Aga, editor of the "Argument.az" website, has been found guilty in the Meydan TV case of smuggling (Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to two months and one day in detention. The decision was made on February 6 by the Khatai District Court of Baku, as reported by Turan, citing his lawyer, Shahla Humbatova.

According to her, the court granted the request of the investigative body, the Baku Main Police Department. "We demanded that the prosecution present preliminary evidence confirming the journalist's involvement in smuggling. However, it turned out that no evidence was presented to the court at all," the lawyer noted. During the court proceedings, the journalist denied his guilt, calling the charges slander, and rejected any criminal activity on his part. The lawyer stated that an appeal will be filed against the court's decision.
