Southern Corridor and Iraqi gas
Baku/11.02.14/Turan : Azerbaijan is ready to assist Iraq in transporting gas to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor, said Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Baghdad yesterday.
In an interview with reporters, Mammadyarov said that Baghdad was interested in this opportunity , reports Agence France-Presse .
It is worth noting that with the participation of Azerbaijan in both pipeline building projects; TANAP ( Trans-Anatolian) and TAP ( Trans-Adriatic) , they will become part of the Southern Gas Corridor designed to transport gas from the Caspian region through Turkey to southern Europe - Greece - Albania - Italy.
However, when the pipelines TANAP and TAP are completed in 2019, then they would bring gas to Europe from the Shah Deniz-2 field . This infrastructure will have no room for additional gas transportation .
It is noteworthy that Iraq who has large gas reserves , that the original idea of ??the construction of the Nabucco pipeline was connected to plans to deliver hydrocarbons to Europe from Iraq. The Nabucco project implementation has been delayed indefinitely , but it could be revived as soon as Iraq is able to export large volumes of gas to Europe. -6D-
