Start is given to the campaign of assisting "Azadlig" newspaper
Roundtable Wednesday on the difficult financial situation of "Azadlig" newspaper took place on Wednesday in the Media Center IRFS.
The newspaper's editor, Rahim Hajiyev, said that on November 15 at 12:00 in the new office PPFA (street Talat Shikhaliyeva , 8) start will be given to a charity marathon, which aims to help the newspaper to get out of this difficult financial situation. He said the newspaper, despite all the hardships, intends to continue its course. He recalled that the publication of the newspaper was suspended due to the fact that the publishing house "Azerbaijan" did not extend the time for the payment of debts.
Prominent lawyer , Aslan Ismailov called the newspaper one of the last bastions of the independent media in Azerbaijan.
Speakers at the event called on the local and international community to assist the newspaper. The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations. The newspaper "Azadlig" suspended publication on November 13, 2013 due to the difficult financial situation.
The newspaper owes the publishing house "Azerbaijan" is 25,000 manat, because it cannot get from the press distribution company "Gasid" 55,000 manat from the sale of newspapers.
On the other hand , the courts have imposed 65,000 fines for defamation; the Baku Metro prevents the sale of the newspaper in metro stations, depriving it of sources of income. -03c04-
