State commission established to investigate the causes of fire in the 16-storey building (UPDATED)
In accordance with Ilham Aliyev's decree a state commission to investigate the causes of the fire on 19 May in an apartment building in Binagadi district of the capital has been created. The commission, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov, includes the head of the Interior Ministry, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of National Security, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labor, as well as the Attorney General and the Mayor of Baku. Commission is to investigate the cause of the fire, as well as identify and implement urgent measures to eliminate its consequences.
In 15 days, the Commission shall calculate the damage caused to citizens, to provide financial and other assistance to the victims and families of the victims.
The Commission is also is to ensure measures to treat the injured and assess the suitability of the building for housing, providing residents temporary apartments.
Prosecutor General's Office, Interior Ministry and the Emergencies Ministry is to investigate the causes of the fire and bring the guilty to justice.-06D—

A major fire in Binagadi district that caused human victims, caused great concern to the head of state, announced a press assistant to the president for social and political issues Ali Hasanov. The President instructed the relevant bodies to provide comprehensive assistance to victims.
Aliyev instructed to create a commission to investigate the causes of today's fire and a half months ago in Khatai district of the capital.
"It will be also investigated whether a certificates for facing materials had been issued, whether there has been licensed for use for residential buildings.
Structures and persons who have committed violations, will be severely punished. With regard to buildings, lined with the said material, measures will be taken," Hasanov said.
The President expressed his deep condolences to the families of the victims. Their funerals and memorials will be funded by the state, these issues entrusted to the mayor's office of Baku.
In order to avoid the recurrence of such cases, will take all necessary measures, Hasanov said. -06D-
