Statement from AND in Support of Turan Information Agency
Baku / 17.08.17 / Turan: An attempt by the authorities to exert pressure on the Turan Information Agency (IA) is another evidence of the authorities' weakness and fear of impartial and unbiased information. This is stated by the AND movement of political immigrants of Azerbaijan.
To date, all Embassies accredited in Azerbaijan are subscribers to the bulletins of this impartial and independent agency. Even the press service of the country's Foreign Ministry is subscribed to Turan IA bulletins.
"The AND Movement believes the attack and pressure on Turan IA is the last red line of attack on free printing in the country. The government's failure to understand this is further evidence of its incompetence and weakness.
AND demands immediately to cease pressure on Turan IA and calls on the international community to exert pressure on the Azerbaijani authorities," the statement says.
* AND (Azerbaijani abbreviation for Democracy for the Sake of Azerbaijan - Ed.) was founded in 2016 by a group of political immigrants from Azerbaijan in Europe. -02D-
