Tehran Organizes Meeting of Commanders of Naval Forces of Caspian States
Baku / 25.04.18 / Turan: A meeting of the commanders of the Naval Forces of the five Caspian countries will be held in Tehran in the near future. This was announced by the commander of the Iranian Navy Hussein Khanzadi, speaking at the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium in Tehran.
Commenting on the upcoming meeting, Khanzadi said the meeting would be held with a view to ensuring security in the Caspian Sea. "Another goal is to prevent violations of the security of the Caspian Sea from the outside and not allow trans-regional powers to penetrate the region," the IRNA agency quotes the admiral.
When the meeting will be held, Khanzadi did not say.
Let us note that the trans-regional forces are primarily the US and NATO. The Americans have been implementing a program for several years to strengthen the Navy of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in the Caspian Sea under the name Caspian Guard. As part of the program, the United States handed warships and equipment to these states and trained their military personnel. -02D-
