The Ambassador of France expressed a strong protest
Baku/28.05.22/Turan: On May 28, the French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zachary Gross was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov protested to the French Ambassador in connection with the May 27 meeting of Paris Mayor Anna Hidalgo with the so-called representative of an illegal entity in Azerbaijan, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.
The ambassador was told that "this step, taken by a French official against the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, frankly contradicts French law and the country's international obligations, and also damages Franco-Azerbaijani relations."
"It was also emphasized that the illegal and irresponsible behavior of the mayor of Paris does not correspond to post-war measures to establish peace and confidence in the region," reads the statement of the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry.
The day before, the mayor of Paris received Arayik Harutyunyan, the leader of the separatist regime in Karabakh. -06D-
