The court extended the arrest of Eldar Hasanov for another three months
Baku/03.05.21/Turan: On May 3, the Binagadi District Court of Baku extended the arrest of the former Azerbaijani Ambassador to Serbia and the country's ex-Prosecutor General Eldar Hasanov for another 3 months, said his lawyer Javad Javadov.
According to him, Hasanov himself refused to participate in the meeting for health reasons. An appeal has already been filed against the court's decision, the lawyer added.
Earlier, last week, the European Court of Human Rights requested information on Hasanov's health and measures to provide him with medical assistance in accordance with Rule 39 of the organization's regulations. The defense insists on the transfer of Hasanov to a civilian clinic for examination and treatment.
In an appeal to the country's leadership on April 16, the lawyers noted that Hasanov suffers from severe pain in the spine and is actually in a pre-paralysis state. “Against the background of an acute form of diabetes mellitus, his heart pains intensify. If there is no qualified medical intervention in the near future, there will be a serious threat to his life,” the appeal said.
* Eldar Hasanov, who served as the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina, was arrested on August 13, 2020 by the State Security Service, and on April 14, the Sabail court of Baku arrested him on charges of abuse of office (308.2), illegal spending of budget funds ( 308-1.1 of the country's Criminal Code).
In the 90s, the ambitious Eldar Hasanov worked as the country's prosecutor general. He was fired for no apparent reason. Later, government circles began to spread the opinion that Hasanov claimed power and was considered by certain circles as a possible successor to Heydar Aliyev.
Later, after the transfer of Hasanov to diplomatic work, appeared rumors about his political ambitions. -06D-
