Baku/27.11.23/Turan: On Monday, the Baku Court of Appeal rejected a complaint against the extension for another 2 months of the arrest of the head of the independent confederation of trade unions "Working Platform" Afiyaddin Mammadov.
Mammadov was detained on September 20 after being attacked by an unknown person. However, Mammadov himself was accused of assault and stabbing another.
On the evening of September 21, the Khatai District Court arrested Mammadov on charges of hooliganism with the use of weapons 221.3 and 126.1 (intentional infliction of serious harm to health). The Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. According to these articles, he faces imprisonment for up to 8 years.
On November 15, the court extended the term of arrest for another 2 months. Human rights activists recognized Mammadov as a political prisoner.
