Following the talks on Saturday in Baku, Ilham Aliyev and European Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso, signed two documents: a protocol to the Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union and its member states, as well as a framework agreement on the general principles of Azerbaijan's participation in EU programs.
Aliyev and Barroso also made a statement to the press. Representatives of independent media were not invited.--06D--

On February 13, the Appeal Court did not satisfy the defense's appeal against the decision of the Khatai Court regarding the arrest of journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi. According to the lawyer, the journalist herself did not participate in the trial due to poor health. The defense intends to submit a petition to replace the arrest with house arrest.
