The European Court satisfied the complaint of Tural Hajibeyli
Baku / 28.09.17 / Turan: The European Court of Human Rights issued on September 28 another decision against the Azerbaijani government. In particular, the complaint of the representative of the opposition Tural Hajibeyli was approved, the lawyer of the plaintiff Intigam Aliyev told Turan. Hajibayli was detained during a peaceful rally in March 2011. The Sabail court arrested him on charges of ignoring the legitimate demands of a government representative. Higher courts have upheld the decision of the district court. As a result, the European Court of Justice complained about violation of Article 5 (right to freedom) of the European Convention, Article 6 (right to fair trial), 11 (right to freedom of assembly), 13 (effective remedies). The court granted the complaint, ruling that the rights to freedom, fair trial, freedom of assembly were violated. The European Court ordered the state to pay Hajibeyli 10 thousand 500 euros (8 thousand for moral damage to the applicant and 2 500 euros for court expenses).
