The former head of the main investigation department of the Ministry of National Security will be brought before the court
Baku/15.09.21/Turan: The preliminary investigation of the criminal case against the ex-head of the main investigation department of the Ministry of National Security Movlam Shikhaliyev and other officials of this abolished department completed.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, the investigation found that in 2008-2014 Shikhaliyev, the former head of the main department of military counterintelligence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Nizami Shirinov, the former head of the investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vusal Alekperov, the former deputy head of the preliminary investigation department Yasin Mammadov, the former deputy head of the department Sahib Alekperov in an organized form by extortion through threats appropriated property of defendants and received bribes on a particularly large scale.
They are charged with receiving bribes worth 14 million 292.000 manats and embezzlement of property worth 5 million 77.000 manats.
Note that Shikhaliyev was charged under Articles 182.3.1, 182.3.2 (extortion by organized group with purpose of property misappropriation on large scale), 294.3 (falsification of evidence), 311.3.1 (bribing by organized group). Also, preventive measures were taken against other members of the criminal group - Vusal Alekperov, Yasin Mammadov and Sahib Alekperov.
The indictment in the criminal case was approved and sent for consideration to the Baku military court. The case against Shirinov was brought to a separate proceeding and sent to the court as well— 16D-

According to a report by Turan correspondent, the discussions took place behind closed doors and lasted for over an hour. No statements were made to the press following the meeting. Furthermore, conference security prevented journalists from asking questions to the meeting participants.
