The meeting of foreign ministers of the "Eastern Partnership" in Brussels

 

Third meeting of foreign ministers of member countries of the EU's "Eastern Partnership" took place yesterday in Brussels. Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by the  Deputy Foreign Minister, Mahmud Mammadguliyev.

   According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the meeting attended  also by the Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus, representatives of the European Commission, the Foreign Service in the EU, the European Investment Bank, a number of committees of the EU, as well as the Civil Society Forum.

      The meeting was chaired by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Catherine Ashton.

  Participants discussed the "road map" of measures to be implemented before the next summit in 2013 in Vilnius.

   Strategic importance of the "Eastern Partnership" in the development of relations with partner countries, acceleration of  political association and economic integration, support of  political and socio-economic reforms in these countries was noted.

     Successful continuation of negotiations on Association Agreements and the agreements on visa facilitation and readmission was noted.

     A number of countries of "Eastern Partnership" expressed concern about the unresolved conflicts in their territories, and stressed the importance of resolving these problems within the territorial integrity, and the sovereignty of these states.

     There were also questions on improving cooperation in the field of education.-06D--
