The miner was blown up by a mine in Karabakh
In a tragic incident on December 26, an employee of the Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Mine Clearance (ANAMA) met with a mine explosion in the Aghdam district, as disclosed by ANAMA sources. Mahmudov Zaur Eldaroglu, born in 1982, became the unfortunate victim while fulfilling his duties in the village of Sarydzhaly.
The explosion, attributed to an anti personnel mine, prompted an immediate response, with Махмудов Заур Эльдар оглу swiftly transported to the district hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, his condition is reported as satisfactory at present.
From November 10, 2020 to December 26, 2023, 322 people were blown up by a mine in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from the Armenian occupation. Of these, 66 people died.
ANAMA continues its crucial work in mine clearance efforts, tirelessly striving to eliminate potential threat and ensure the safety of the affected regions. The incident underscores the persistent dangers faced by those engaged in such perilous tasks, highlighting the importance of ongoing efforts to secure and demine areas afflicted by the remnants of Karabakh conflict.

The opposition parties “Musavat” and Republican Alternative (ReAl) have published lists of their candidates for deputies in the early elections to the Milli Majlis on September 1. The “Musavat” Party presented a list of its candidates for 27 electoral districts. The head of the party, Isa Gambar, and the chairman of the Mejlis of the party, Arif Hajili, are missing from the list. A biopsy revealed the benign nature of a tumor in the thyroid gland of Alesker Mammadli, the founder of “Toplum TV.” However, he and his family do not trust the results of the study, due to incomplete medical procedures and interference of security forces in the activities of doctors. At the end of last week, the results of a biopsy performed by A.Mammadli on June 22 became known, his brother Nasimi Mammadli told Turan. According to the diagnosis, the tumor is benign.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, by today’s order, has dismissed Aziz Azizov from the post of head of the Executive Authority of the Surakhani district of Baku. By another order, the head of state appointed Adil Aliyev, who held the post of Deputy speaker of the Milli Majlis of the 6th convocation, to this position. This means that Aliyev will not run for parliament, since working in the executive branch is incompatible with participation in the legislature.
