The new president of PACE is the Italian Michele Nicoletti
Strasbourg/22.01.18/Turan: The PACE winter session that opened today elected a 61-year-old Italian parliamentarian Michele Nicoletti a new president of PACE, the special correspondent of Turan reported from Strasbourg. Nicoletti has been PACE member since 2013, is the head of the Italian delegation to PACE and a group of socialists. During the session, under the slogan: "Conflicts and their humanitarian consequences," will be discussed conflicts in Europe, the problems of people suffering in crisis zones, the process of peaceful settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the growth of anti-Semitism in Europe, the role of the Council of Europe in combating Islamophobia and xenophobia.
On January 24, the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will address the session. In addition, the focus of the PACE deputies will be threats and challenges to press freedom and the Internet in Europe, combating calls for hatred in the on-line environment.
