The Prison Service is afraid of meeting with Jamil Hasanli
The Chairman of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Leyla Yunus Jamil Hasanli asked the Prison Service to inform him about the conditions of the well-known human rights activist Leyla Yunus and violations of her rights. However, within 8 days since the request to get a meeting with the officials of that agency the Professor’s attempt has failed.
"During this time I have repeatedly appealed to the duty of the Prison Service, the reception, the Secretariat. The Assistant Chief of the Prison Service Madat Guliyev said that this issue is dealt with by the head of the Secretariat, Vugar Muallim. However, when this person learned that I want to get acquainted with the conditions of Leyla Yunus in jail, he began to make up a variety of reasons, trying to justify the delay in the meeting," said Hasanli.
The prison staff took the mobile phone number of Jamil Hasanli, promising to contact him. "Unfortunately, until now no one has called. After my repeated application the head of the Secretariat promised to clarify the question, but from then on the employees of the Prison Service stopped to respond to my phone calls, refusing to talk to me and fulfill their direct duties," said Hasanli. -16D04-
