“Selection of Baku for the matches of European Football Championship 2020 is a great success for Azerbaijani football and in the whole country,” the President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan Iskender Javadov commented the UEFA decision for Turan.
According to him, this decision is the result of the successful sports policy of the country to build a modern sports infrastructure. On the other hand, it is the recognition of the development of football in Azerbaijan, as evidenced by the achievements of the Azerbaijani clubs in European competitions.
In recent years, two Azerbaijani clubs, Neftchi and Karabakh made their way into the group stage of the Europa League, which is a major achievement, Javadov said. -06B-
