The Prosecutor General`s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the investigation of the shooting at the circus building
Baku/13.03.23/Turan: The Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General's Office continues to investigate the armed incident on March 10 on Samad Vurgun Street in the Nasimi district of the capital.
During the investigation, it was established that Shahmar Ismailov, born in 1995, and Vugar Guliyev, born in 1998, in collusion with other persons, tried to shoot Nijat Akperov. However, the latter was able to dodge the bullets and was not injured. At the same time, Tamerlan Huseynov (born in 1983) and Fagan Rahimli (born in 2002) happened to be at the scene of the incident, and were injured.
Shahmar Ismailov and Vugar Guliyev were detained as suspects and charged under the Articles 29, 120.2.1, 29, 120.2.4 of the Criminal Code (attempted murder by a group of persons), 228.2.1 (illegal use of firearms) and other articles. Both were arrested by a court decision.
During the inspection of the scene and the suspects' car, one pistol, cartridges and shell casings, as well as other material evidence were found and seized.

On January 15, the Tbilisi Court of Appeals rejected the appeal of Afghan Sadigov, the founder of the Azel TV website, who had protested his extradition to Azerbaijan. Sadigov’s wife, Sevinj Sadigova, stated that this was the final judicial instance in Georgia making a decision on the case, Turan reported. On the other hand, lawyer Mariam Kvelashvili informed Turan that the defense would continue legal steps to prevent the extradition of Afghan Sadigov. According to his wife, Afghan has been on hunger strike for 117 days, and his health is critical.

On January 15, the Yasamal District Court rejected the motion to change the detention measure for Azer Gasymly, the director of the Institute of Political Management, his lawyer, Agyl Laidj, to Turan. "Azer Gasymly stated during the trial that the charges against him were fabricated and related to his socio-political activities," the lawyer said. An appeal will be filed against the court's decision.
