The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry believes in the imminent conclusion of an agreement on Caspian status

The work on the definition of the Caspian legal status may be completed by the summit of the region, said in an interview with RIA Novosti Igor Bratchikov, the  head of the Russian delegation at the talks on the Caspian Sea, Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

It was reported earlier that the summit "Caspian Five", which includes Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan will be held in 2016 in Astana.

"The basis for compromise solutions is very solid - it is a political statement containing principles of activity of the parties to the sea signed by our leaders in Astrakhan. The challenge now is to give  a common approach in the legal form. The finalization of the Convention (on the legal status of the Caspian Sea.. - ed.) to the summit in Kazakhstan is absolutely real," said Bratchikov.

According to him, before the  foreign ministers of the five countries that will  in Kazakhstan next week will analyze the draft convention. "We hope that ministers will come to concrete agreements, which will be reflected in this document," said Bratchikov. -02D-
