The scandal at the TV debate of the candidates for presidency was planned
A meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan will take place ay 16:00 on Saturday. It is expected that the agenda of the meeting will be considered an incident that took place on the televised debate of the presidential candidates on September 19 at the Public Television (ITV.)
The candidate of the pro-government party "Modern Musavat", Hafiz Hajiyev, rudely interrupted the speech of a single opposition candidate, Jamil Hasanly, insulting and threatening him with physical violence when Hasanly began to accuse President Ilham Aliyev of corruption. In the end, the TV viewers saw that Hajiyev threw a plastic bottle with water on Hasanli; the bottle ricocheted off the table and went by Hasanly.
The announcer of the debates, Fizuli Ismailov, did not give Hasanly his six minutes for speech, and ITV made a formal inadequate warning to Hasanly.
Some facts testify that a provocation against Hasanly was planned in advance. For example, the analysis of the first and second TV debates showed that for the first time in front of each candidate there were plastic cups with water, and on the second debate there were put plastic water bottles. Further, despite repeated calls by Hasanly to call Hajiyev to order, were futile. On the contrary, the announcer created conditions causing destructive actions by Hajiyev, and wrongfully deprived Hasanly of his time to speak, ostensibly because of the expiration of his time. Also during Hasanly’s speech, ITV showed Hajiyev who was intervening the speech of Hajiyev, although it was not legal.
Being asked to comment on the remarks, Jamil Hasanly said: «In the first debate there were cups with water, and Hafiz Hajiyev ironically asked the employee of ITV to fill the glass to the brim, noting that may be a cut will be thrown to somebody. At the second debate there were bottles on the tables. Hafiz Hajiyev quickly emptied the water, and when a second bottle was brought, he said ominously, that he will probably throw it on somebody."
All this shows the planned character of provocative actions by Hajiyev against me, said Jamil Hasanly.
Hasanly believes that such kind of provocation will continue because part of the candidates spends much of their speech to attack him. –0—
