The situation in Georgia continues to heat up
Baku/21.06.19/Turan: Despite the current resignation of Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze, which the protesters demanded, the situation continues to heat up. Several thousand protesters continue to gather in different parts of Tbilisi and intend to hold a new rally. They demand the resignation of the heads of law enforcement agencies.
The duties of the chair of parliament until the election of a new speaker will be performed by the vice speaker Tamar Chugoshvili.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has already declared its readiness to resign. The demonstrators also demand the resignation of the head of the State Security Service.
Mass protests and then clashes with the police began in Tbilisi after the Russian MP Gavrilov appeared in the Georgian parliament, who arrived in Tbilisi to participate in an international event. The Georgian opposition stated that it supported the Abkhaz separatists and its admission to Georgia is an act of betrayal of the current authorities of the country. -02D-
