Trial starts on activists of NIDA
Baku Court of Grave Crimes chaired by Javid Huseynov scheduled for October 28 a preliminary hearing on the case of activists of NIDA and Free Youth.
They are charged with preparing riots during protests in Baku on March 10. Initially, the young people were charged with illegal possession of weapons and drugs.
For these charges in March and April members of NIDA Mahammad Azizov, Bakhtiyar Guliyev, Shaheen Novruzlu , Rashadat Akhundov, Uzeyir Mammadov, Rashad Hasanov and Zaur Gurbanly were arrested.
In May, Ilkin Rustamzadeh from the movement Free Youth was arrested on charges of hooliganism. However, later the people were accused under article 220.1 (organization of mass disorders). They face up to 12 years in prison.
Amnesty International has recognized all the arrested young men as prisoners of conscience. -16D-

Negotiations at the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Baku have been extended until November 24, a source in the UNFCCC Secretariat told the Turan news agency. According to the source, participants aim to finalize and sign the concluding documents by that date.
