Tural Abbasli subjected to inhuman treatment in detention center
The head of the youth organization of the party Musavat, Tural Abbasli is exposed to inhuman treatment in the temporary detention facility in Binagadi. This was said on Saturday by his mother Bashkhanym Abbasli and the lawyer Asabali Mustafaev.
On August 7 T. Abbasly was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest on charges of failing to do the obligatory community service of 220 hours. This measure was assigned to Abbasli instead of the fine in the amount of AZN 600 for participation in the protest against the non-combat losses in the army in Baku on January 12. Abbasli denied the charge of evasion of the administrative penalty. He said that he went to the housing and utilities department No 41 to do the obligatory job he was legally sentenced to, but no work was given to him there.
The activist's mother and the lawyer said that during the three day after arriving at the detention center T. Abbasly was contained in handcuffs. This measure was taken only for the fact that he asked to read instructions about the rights and responsibilities of a prisoner.
The young man is not given clean linens. He is not let to receive home-cooked meals, and the food provided in the prison is of poor quality and served in dirty containers.
The lawyer Mustafayev said that the young man is subjected to inhuman treatment by political motives.
T. Abbasly's mother is in despair and does not know where to turn because of the arbitrariness to her son.
"I hope that the media will deliver my alarm to the local and international community," said B. Abbasly. -06D -
