Turkey will support Azerbaijan to the last - Hulusi Akar
Baku/02.10.20/Turan: Calls for a ceasefire in the zone of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict voiced by countries that for years have not been able to find a fair settlement to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh are not sincere and far from trustworthy, said the Turkish Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar commenting on the call of the presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries (USA, Russia and France).
The head of the Turkish defense department recalled that the occupation of 20% of the territory of Azerbaijan has been going on for 30 years. More than a million refugees and internally displaced persons are still waiting to return to their homes.
“Despite all efforts of Azerbaijan and decisions of international organizations, the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict has not found a fair solution. Armenia ignored the norms of international law, continuing the occupation of Azerbaijani lands.
The OSCE Minsk Group did not take any steps to liberate the lands of Azerbaijan. On the contrary, the mediators tried to force Azerbaijan to get used to the idea of occupying the land, to make the status quo a fait accompli. All this untied Yerevan's hands and created conditions for new provocations and tensions,” Akar said.
The minister stressed that Turkey will support fraternal Azerbaijan to the last in a just struggle for the liberation of its native lands.
According to Akar, against the background of successful operations of the Azerbaijani army, Yerevan again resorted to the old tactics of misinforming the world community. “Armenia has announced the participation of Turkish military aviation in the battles. This black propaganda is aimed at distorting the realities of the South Caucasus,” the minister said. -02D-
