Turkic Summit in Kyrgyzstan
Baku / 01.09.18 / Turan: The 6th summit of the heads of state of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking Nations will be held in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan, on September 3. Following the meeting results, signing of joint documents will take place. The chairmanship at the summit will pass from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan.
The summit will be attended by the heads of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbai Jeenbekov, Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, will also attend the event as guests of honor.
The Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking Nations is an international organization uniting Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. It was established on October 3, 2009 on the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. Members of the Council have repeatedly urged Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to join. But under Islam Karimov Uzbekistan did not respond to the invitations of the Council, and Turkmenistan chose the format of an observer in this organization. -0-

During the ongoing COP29 climate conference in Baku on November 14, a group of activists staged a protest condemning Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The activists also denounced countries that supply oil and weapons to nations waging aggressive wars. The protest featured placards with slogans such as: "From fossil fuels to peace!", "End war crimes!", "Punish the aggressor!", and "Phase out fossil fuel use to achieve peace!" among others.
