Two more PFPA activists arrested
Baku/01.08.20/Turan: Chairman of the Garadagh regional branch of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Elnur Jabbarov and a member of the Absheron branch of the party Mushvig Guliyev were arrested in connection with the "Karabakh action" on July 14-15. They were detained on July 30, the PFPA reported.
On Friday, in the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office, they were charged under the Article 186.2.1 (intentional destruction or damage to property and causing major damage to the victim); the Article 233 (organization of actions that contribute to the violation of public order or active participation in such actions); and the Artice 315.1 (resistance or use of violence against a government official) of the Criminal Code.
On the same day, the Nasimi district court chose a preventive measure against them in the form of arrest for a period of three months. The PFPA believes that the activists are being persecuted on far-fetched, politically motivated charges.
Thus, the number of PFPA members prosecuted in this case has reached 18. The total number of those arrested in connection with these events, according to human rights activists, is about 40 people. — 06D-
