T.Yangland: a way to resolve conflicts is through democracy
The Council of Europe is not directly involved in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict, but is interested in resolving this conflict, said today the CE Secretary General Tjeborn Yangland, responding at the PACE session the question from Azerbaijani MP, Rafael Huseynov, regarding the attempts of the Armenian side to open flights to Nagorno-Karabakh, according to Turan correspondent from Strasbourg.
Yangland believes that the best way to peace is through the promotion of democracy, human rights and the rule of law, and the Council of Europe called on for it. In his view, it is precisely through the settlement of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and other conflicts.
However, he stressed that regardless of the presence of conflict, human rights and democracy should be respected in the space of the CE. Yangland answered questions from PACE members, gave a presentation on the situation in Kosovo and the role of the Council of Europe. –04C06--
