Ukraine points to breakthrough of Russian army's first line of defense in Kherson
Baku/30.08.22/Turan: Ukraine reports on the development of an offensive in the south of the country to liberate the Kherson region from Russian troops.
The media report that the first of three lines of Russian defense has been broken through.
TSN correspondent Elena Vanina, who managed to evacuate Kherson, has sources in the city, so she told UNİAN about the situation there.
According to the journalist, yesterday the Ukrainian military hit a base of Russian occupants' equipment, and today it hit a military unit of the invaders.
Bridges across the Dnieper are impassable, it is possible to cross it only with the help of a pontoon crossing.
"Departure has become more difficult, it is increasingly difficult for people to leave Kherson, because you have to wait in line for seven hours for the crossing. And then it takes 5-7 days at the checkpoint in Vasilievka," the correspondent claims.
According to her, the local population had long been prepared for a counterattack by the Ukrainian armed forces and had stocked up on food and water as far back as in April.
On August 29, the Ukrainian command officially announced the beginning of a military counter-offensive in the Kherson region. The advance of Ukrainian forces is accompanied by the destruction of Russian logistics in the occupied territories.
