On the night of 9 August, the Ukrainian armed forces launched an air strike on the Lipetsk-2 airfield, where Russian military aviation was based. As a result, several combat aircraft and warehouses with 700 guided bombs were destroyed, Ukrainian military sources said.
The Ukrainian drone strike triggered a powerful explosion that caused detonation and a large-scale fire. Local authorities announced the evacuation of residents of nearby settlements. Su-34, Su-35 and MiG-31 aircraft were reportedly based at the airfield.
At the same time, a Russian military convoy was attacked. The attack destroyed 13 Ural vehicles and a KAMAZ carrying infantry. As a result, 300-400 people were killed and wounded. The strike was carried out by HIMARS missiles.
Drone strikes were also carried out against facilities in the Belgorod, Lipetsk, Bryansk and Voronezh regions of Russia, as well as in Crimea.
