U.S. Ambassador discusses the election situation with the opposition

With just less than three weeks before U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated, the country's top diplomat Antony Blinken is headed to Asia and Europe on his final tour starting tonight, TURAN's Washington correspondent, who will be traveling with the Secretary of State to cover his last trip, reports.

A bipartisan group of U.S.lawmakers, led by Republican Congressman Joe Wilson, the Chairman of U.S. Helsinki Commission, on Friday announced the reintroduction of the MEGOBARI Act, as well as their intention to introduce “Georgia Nightmare Non-Recognition Act.” Both bills will push for sanctions against Georgian Dream officials while the latter will also prohibit the recognition of the Russian-backed government's legitimacy, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.

In response to a query by Voice of America regarding a report by the Turan news agency about an AZAL flight encountering radio interference and GPRS disruptions while flying over Astrakhan on January 1, the press service of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) issued a statement. The airline assured that the Baku-Kazan flight operated on schedule and adhered to international safety standards. However, the statement did not directly address claims of radio interference and GPRS issues.

Elnara Gasimova, an employee of Abzas Media, who is being held in the Baku pretrial detention center No. 1, addressed the public.
