US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State meets with opposition leaders
On Tuesday Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Bridget Brink met in Baku with the chairman of the party "Musavat" Arif Hajili, chairman of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli, and leader of the National Council Jamil Hasanli.
At the meeting held at the US Embassy in Baku they discussed Azerbaijan's integration into Europe, the socio-political situation in the country, the problem of political prisoners, the falsification of the parliamentary elections, the Karabakh conflict, pressure on the press and other issues.
A separate point of discussion was the fate of the convicted human rights activist Leyla Yunus, whose life is in danger because of serious health problems.
The meeting was attended by the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta. -05D04-
