The first meeting of the new parliament elected the Vice-Speakers. The First Vice-Speaker Ziyafat Askerov has remained in his position. The Vice-Speakers Bahar Muradova and Valeh Aleskerov have also remained in office.
Askerov and Muradova as well as the Speaker Ogtay Asadov, are members of the ruling party New Azerbaijan, while Aleskerov is nonpartisan. -06D--

60-year-old Oktay Asadov was today re-elected Speaker of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan. His candidacy was proposed by the ruling party New Azerbaijan at the first meeting of the new Parliament.
During the uncontested elections, by secret ballot, Asadov for the third time became the speaker of parliament.
He was elected to the post in 2005 and 2010. -06D-
